Time goes by and my dissertation. . .doesn't. I have a job, which is yay, but also means I NEED TO FINISH. SOON. I was in a writing groove way back before my trip to Louisville in the beginning of March. I got the new first two chapters done and off to Kate, and I'm... Continue Reading →
Am I a writer?
I've called myself a writer, been told I'm a writer, hoped I could be a writer. So am I a writer? A writer who teaches writing a la Donald Murray? Or am I kidding myself? In some ways, I think the dissertation writing process has killed any writer-ly instincts I once had, but when I hit... Continue Reading →
So far,
So good. I finished drafting the new chapters one and two, I have about 15 pages of chapter 3 and 19 pages of chapter 4 drafted. Epiphany
So the job search can be depressing at times, but more importantly, it is a huge timesuck. Which is why I've not been blogging regularly. Of course, severe writer's block might also have something to do with it. After having a long conversation with my director last night, I know I need to MAJORLY rethink the direction... Hmmm
Edward Soja, critical geographer, coined the term "thirdspace." I think this might help me. . .
Maps and Mirrors
I keep thinking that the essay as a genre is more like a mirror that is inserted into this map of invention studies (certainly a flawed metaphor, but work with me here). So my question is, what is the relationship between maps and mirrors? --Map as mirror of real world? This link might be interesting.... Continue Reading →
Another round of mapping
Here goes nothing. And. . .
